One of our longstanding Northern Beaches clients Bilgola Surf Lifesaving Club approached us at the beginning of the 2024 season and asked us to redesign their annual awards. The awards are presented at the end of the Surf Lifesaving season in March. The remit was simple, the award had to allow for recycling in future years. In previous years we had supplied the club with generic acrylic awards that were customised by painting the club colours onto the bases of the acrylic awards. 1st place had a royal blue base, 2nd place had a deep yellow base and 3rd place had a sky blue base. We came up with the idea of printing the club colours onto an anodised plaque using the proccess of sublimation. We then mounted the plaque onto a custom made Victorian Ash timber block. We then laser engraved the award category into the timber as this engraving detail would remain the same year on year. We then added secondary gold, silver and bronze plaques to represent the respective placing of the award recipient. If the award is not collected at the presentation, the design of the award allows the front anodised plaque to be removed and replaced with a different winner for subsequent years.
